Putnam County Probation Department
The Putnam County Pretrial Release Program’s purpose is to reduce the number of people in jail due to individuals and to supervise those the court places under supervision as the result of bail reform. The population is typically comprised of defendants with non-violent felonies and misdemeanor charges. Eligible pretrial defendants are placed under RUS with non-monetary conditions that may include phone contact, in person reporting and/or electronic monitoring.

Putnam County Probation Department
The Putnam County Community Service component affords the courts and District Attorney another avenue of sentencing in an effort to alleviate weekend sentences or probation supervision which has an indirect effect in lowering the demand on the increasing jail population. The program staff works closely with the Mental Health and Treatment Court and does referrals, as are deemed appropriate.
