Current Summary of Changes to the Coded Law File
Law File Changes – January 30, 2018
Note: Laws added to the file since the last posting on May 24, 2017 begin with relative address/law ordinal 8577. Be aware, however, that changes/corrections have been made to existing laws. A summary is shown below, but may not be complete. We recommend that you overwrite the existing law file with the new one.
With this new posting (and with the more recent ones), a new file format is available to replace the legacy mainframe flat file. The content, however, is based on our Oracle table as the mainframe law table no longer exists due to the decommissioning of our mainframe.
Legislation:
Chapter 340 of the Laws of 2017 – added Vehicle and Traffic Law §§1229-c(3-c)(a) and (b), operating a taxi without a seatbelt and being a passenger in the front seat of a taxi without a seatbelt, both traffic infractions, effective November 1, 2017. (ordinals 8578 and 8579)
Chapter 83 of the Laws of 1966 -added Vehicle and Traffic Law §1164, Failure to signal by hand and arm or signal lamps, a traffic infraction. (ordinal 8580)
Chapter 59 of the Laws of 2017 –added Vehicle and Traffic Law §1696(1)(e) – operating as a transportation network company (TNC) driver without a valid TNC driver permit, a traffic infraction, effective 7/9/2017. (ordinal 8577)
Education Law §861 – updated to reflect changes relative to the computer-age.
Repealed ordinal 8581 effective 5/31/2014.
